The Market

If you're in Auckland and passionate about good food you will certainly be in heaven at La Cigale. A gourmet market in a french style inspired by founders Mike and Elizabeth Lind's travels in the south of France. Since opening in 1997 the venue has developed from 1 or 2 stalls on a saturday into what would now be described as a “Theater of Food”. Rather than just a farmers market La Cigale is a place where people interact and experience the food.

Evening Bistro

Since respected Kiwi chef Warwick Brown started at La Cigale the evening dinners have grown from a few guests to one of Auckland's most exciting ideas in dining. The concept is to create a casual environment that delivers the excitement of a restaurant while also capturing the essence of how it feels to be dining in someone's home. An innovative combination proving to be very popular with diners garnering numerous awards from our leading publications such as “Best New Restaurant” and “Best Value for Money”.

The food is cooked to be shared and you place your order in advance. There are two options for mains with each night having it's own special theme such as Moroccan Tagine and provincial French classics such as Beef Bourguignon, Rare scotch fillets with Bearnaise and Duck A l'orange for special occasions. On the first Friday of every month is Bouillabaisse: a traditional French fish stew filled with a selection of fish, shell fish and a variety of vegetables herbs and spices. The Bouillabaisse nights can booked out a week prior!
